Privacy Policy
KwaFinance is private software made by its developer for personal use. It is not published, sold or distributed, and is used only by the developer and his family.
KwaFinance is a personal family budget app. This policy explains what information the app accesses, why, where it is stored, and how you can control and delete it. In short: the data stays on your phone and in your own Google Drive. Nobody else receives it.
1. Information the app accesses
| Data | Source / permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|---|
| Your Google account’s e-mail address and account ID | Google Sign-In (openid, email) | To show which account is connected. |
| KwaFinance’s own budget files: budget plan, transactions and their categories, savings records, settings | Google Drive API, app data folder only (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata) | To keep the budget in a hidden app folder of the owner’s Google Drive, sync it between devices and restore it after reinstalling. A phone signed in “as a reader” only reads these files. |
| Wolt purchase receipts in Gmail: venue, items, prices, delivery and service fees, tip, amount paid, last 4 digits of the card, time of payment | Gmail API, read-only (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly) — owner’s phone only | To attach each delivery receipt to the matching card payment and show what was bought. The app searches only for messages from Wolt and opens only those. |
| Bank notification SMS from the sender “TBC SMS”: amount, currency, merchant, card’s last 4 digits, balance, time | Android SMS permissions (RECEIVE_SMS, READ_SMS) — owner’s phone | To record card payments as they happen. Other SMS are ignored. One-time security codes are discarded immediately and never stored. |
| Bank statement files (CSV) you choose to open in the app | Android file picker / share | To import the full list of account transactions. |
The Drive permission gives access only to a hidden folder that belongs to KwaFinance; the app cannot see, open, list or change any other files in Google Drive. The Gmail permission is used only to search for and read Wolt receipts; no other messages are opened, and the app never sends, deletes or changes e-mails.
2. How the information is used
- Only to provide the features you use: recording and categorising spending, planning the budget, showing reports, and syncing with your family through your own Drive.
- KwaFinance does not use your data for advertising, profiling or analytics, and does not use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
- KwaFinance does not sell, rent, share or transfer Google user data, SMS or bank data to anyone.
- No human reads your data. The developer has no access to it.
3. Where the information is stored
- On your phone, in a local database inside the app’s private storage, so the app works offline.
- Sign-in tokens are stored in encrypted app storage protected by the Android Keystore.
- In the owner’s Google Drive: small budget files in KwaFinance’s hidden app data folder. Full e-mails, full SMS texts and statement files are not uploaded; only the extracted transaction fields are.
- There is no KwaFinance server or cloud. The app communicates directly with Google’s servers over HTTPS, and with the public exchange-rate service of the National Bank of Georgia (no personal data is sent there).
4. Sharing and third parties
- Google. The app sends requests to Google Sign-In, the Google Drive API and the Gmail API as described above. Google’s own privacy policy applies to data held by Google.
- Family reader. The owner may sign in on a family member’s phone with his own account “as a reader”; that phone shows the budget read-only and does not read SMS or Gmail.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. No other third parties receive any data.
5. Google API Services User Data Policy
KwaFinance’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Retention and deletion
- Local data is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Disconnect Google: Settings → Sources → Disconnect. This removes the sign-in token from the phone.
- Delete the data in Google Drive: open Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → KwaFinance → Options → Delete hidden app data.
- Stop reading SMS: turn the source off in the app or remove the SMS permission in Android settings.
- Revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
7. Security
All communication with Google uses HTTPS. Sign-in uses the Google account already on the phone; your Google password is never seen or stored by the app. The app never asks for or stores bank passwords or card numbers, and discards one-time security codes from SMS without saving them.
8. Children
KwaFinance is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
