KwaFinance

EVERY COIN COUNTED

A personal family budget, from salary to salary

KwaFinance is an Android app that plans a family's spending for each salary period, records what was actually spent, and explains why the budget was exceeded. Spending is picked up from the owner's own bank SMS and statements, and food-delivery receipts from the owner's own Gmail.

KwaFinance is private software made by its developer for personal use. It is not published, sold or distributed, and is used only by the developer and his family. There are no downloads. This site only explains how the app handles data.

What KwaFinance does

Plan by salary period

Budget lines in several currencies, planned months ahead, with regular payments carried over from the previous period.

Actual spending, automatically

Bank card SMS on the owner's phone and imported bank statements become transactions; the owner assigns each new merchant to a budget line once.

Delivery receipts

Wolt receipts from the owner's Gmail are attached to the matching card payment, so it is clear what was actually bought.

Why we went over

A report of unplanned spending, overruns, plan changes, currency losses and money taken from savings.

Shared with the family

The owner's data is synced through a hidden app folder in his own Google Drive; a family member's phone can open it as a reader, read-only.

No servers of ours

There is no KwaFinance account and no KwaFinance cloud. The app works on the phone and talks only to Google.
