Privacy Policy
KwanimeGo is private software made by its developer for personal use. It is not published, sold or distributed, and is used only by the developer and people he personally invites.
KwanimeGo is a personal anime player. This policy explains what information the app accesses, why, where it is stored, and how you can control and delete it. In short: your data stays on your devices and, if you choose, in a hidden folder of your own Google Drive. Nobody else receives it.
1. Information the app accesses
| Data | Source / permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|---|
| Your Google account’s e-mail address and account ID | Google Sign-In (openid, email) | To show which account is connected for sync. |
| KwanimeGo’s own sync files: your anime list and statuses, ratings, favourites, watch history, playback progress, app settings | Google Drive API, app data folder only (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata) | To keep your list and progress the same on all your devices and to restore them after reinstalling the app. |
The Drive permission gives access only to a hidden folder that belongs to KwanimeGo. The app cannot see, open, list or change any other files in your Google Drive. Connecting Google Drive is optional; without it the app works locally only.
2. How the information is used
- Only to provide the features you use: syncing your list, history and progress between your devices.
- KwanimeGo does not use your data for advertising, profiling or analytics, and does not use it to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
- KwanimeGo does not sell, rent, share or transfer Google user data to anyone.
- No human reads your data. The developer has no access to it.
3. Where the information is stored
- On your devices. Your list, history, progress and a cache of catalog information are stored in a local database inside the app’s private storage (on Windows, in your user profile’s application data folder), so the app opens instantly and works offline.
- Sign-in tokens (OAuth refresh tokens) are stored in the system’s protected storage: the Windows Credential Manager on Windows, and encrypted app storage protected by the Android Keystore on Android and Android TV.
- In your Google Drive, if you connect it: small sync files in KwanimeGo’s hidden app data folder.
- There is no KwanimeGo server or cloud. The app communicates directly with Google’s servers over HTTPS.
4. Sharing and third parties
- Google. If you connect Google Drive, the app sends requests to Google Sign-In and the Google Drive API as described above. Google’s own privacy policy applies to data held by Google.
- Anime websites and video players. To show catalogs and play episodes, the app requests web pages and video streams directly from third-party anime websites and the video players they embed. Like a web browser, these requests reveal your IP address and basic technical information (such as the app’s user agent) to those services. No Google data and no information from your list is sent to them. Their own policies apply to their services.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. No other third parties receive any data.
5. Google API Services User Data Policy
KwanimeGo’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Retention and deletion
- Local data is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Disconnect Google Drive: Settings → Sync → Disconnect. This removes the sign-in token from the device; local data stays on the device.
- Delete the data in Google Drive: open Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → KwanimeGo → Options → Delete hidden app data.
- Remove everything on a device: uninstall KwanimeGo (on Windows, also delete the KwanimeGo folder in your application data folder).
- Revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The app then can no longer access your Google data.
7. Security
All communication with Google uses HTTPS. Sign-in uses Google’s OAuth 2.0 flows for installed apps: the system browser with PKCE on Windows, and the Google account already on the device on Android and Android TV. Your Google password is never seen or stored by the app.
8. Children
KwanimeGo is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
